Park Inn reaches Preston

By BBT / 7 August 2008
Business Travel News on X

Budget brand of Rezidor continues expansion in the north west.

The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced it will take over a hotel in Preston on November 1, 2008.

The hotel, which was under the Novotel brand until the end of 2006, and which has been an independent hotel since, will be officially rebranded as the Park Inn in February 2009. The exact date is yet to be disclosed.

Park Inn Preston will have 98 rooms and will add a further 20 bedrooms by June 2009, and will have brand standards such as air conditioning, bedside and desk lamps and rainfall showers. The hotel has eight meeting rooms (350sqm in total); the largest of which seats up to 180 people theatre-style.

Director of business development for the Rezidor Hotel Group, Pedro Raposo, said: "Preston is a medium-sized, well connected city in the heart of England's north west", one of the most populated areas in the UK. It has a strong industrial and service based economy, and therefore solid demand generators for a full-service mid-market hotel such as Park Inn."

The expansion is part of a ”45 million investment for the Park Inn brand, most of which is being spent on upgrading existing properties. The hotel is Rezidor”s 50th hotel in operation and under development in the UK, 18 of which are Park Inns. Another 16 Park Inns are planned to open in the next two years, including in Belfast (145 rooms) Leigh (135 rooms) and Peterborough (115 rooms) this year.

Altogether there are 70 Park Inn hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and a further 43 under development.

The group also has 11 Radisson SAS hotels, with a further three under development, and one Country Inn & Suites in operation in London. The group has also signed a global agreement with the Italian fashion house Missoni to develop and operate Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh, which is under development.
