Accorhotels has opened a flagship Novotel property in London’s Canary Wharf, featuring a restaurant, bar and rooftop terrace on the top floors of the 127 metre high building.
The 313-room hotel – which had been due to open in October 2016 – is located at 40 Marsh Street, around ten minutes’ walk from Canary Wharf station.
Facilities include free wifi, nine meeting rooms, a gym, swimming pool and sauna, and food and beverage options including Bokan 37 restaurant, Bokan 38 bar and Bokan 39 roof terrace, as well as the ground-floor Canary Coffee.
The hotel has also done away with the traditional reception desk, with staff using iPads to check in guests.
Accorhotels is keen to promote the hotel’s eco credentials as part of the group’s Planet 21 programme. Initiatives include a vegetable garden, a Combined Heat Power System which it says will “contribute to a 30 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions”, and a light regulation system which “adjusts the level of light according to the time of day and season”.
The hotel also features beehives on the 39th floor which will produce honey for guests.
Commenting on the opening Thomas Dubaere, managing director of Accorhotels UK and Ireland said:
“Canary Wharf will be the iconic Novotel for Accorhotels UK and Ireland and aims to become the place to be in the Canary Wharf business area.
“Joining a network of 33 Novotel in the UK, this unique hotel is a shining example of our ambition to create innovative, guest-focused, sustainable accommodation that caters for the changing requirements of the modern-day guest as well as providing first-rate services for the local population.”
