Melia Hotels International has announced it will open its third London property – Melia Kensington – in December.
The property will open as the London Kensington Hotel managed by Melia Hotels International to begin with, but the company says it will undergo a complete renovation in Q1 2019 and will be renamed Melia London Kensington Hotel.
Located in close proximity to Kensington Palace, Holland Park and Royal Albert Hall, the hotel currently has 81 rooms, a restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and a wellness area.
Melia says the renovation will include the creation of an open-plan lobby and restaurant space, as well as an update to the property’s MICE facilities.
The hotel will be Melia’s third in the capital, joining Melia White House at Great Portland Street and ME London on the Strand.
Announcing the opening at the World Travel Market in London, Gabriel Escarrer, EVP and CEO of Melia Hotels International, said: “We are the only one of the top 20 international hotel companies that has focused its entire portfolio of brands on the leisure and bleisure segments, with all of our brands positioned to operate as resorts in urban destinations with a high leisure component. London is the perfect location for this concept.”
