Marriott International has announced three new deal signings in Africa as part of its plan to expand its presence across the continent.
The deals include the St Regis Marrakech Resort in Morocco, which will be part of the Assoufid Golf Resort and will include 80 guest rooms and villas. The property will feature a spa, pool and fitness centre, as well as six restaurants and the St Regis Bar. It will be located less than 1.5km from Kotoka International airport.
In Ghana, the chain will open the Residence Inn by Marriott Accra Kotoka Airport, which will mark the debut of the extended stay brand in the country. Set to open in 2023, the 12-storey hotel will offer 160 suites equipped with kitchens. Other facilities will include three food and beverage outlets including a rooftop bar and a health and leisure club, as well as a boardroom for meetings.
Lastly, Marriott will make its debut in Liberia with the Four Points by Sheraton Monrovia (pictured). Due to open in 2020, the hotel will feature 111 guest rooms and four food and beverage outlets. It will be located in Monrovia’s central business district and near governmental and ministerial buildings, diplomatic facilities and the University of Liberia.
Marriott International plans to expand its footprint in Africa to 200 properties by the end of 2023 and says the North and West Africa regions are key to its growth strategy.
