Marriott’s new budget brand, Moxy Hotels, has opened its first property in Milan.
Moxy Milan Malpensa airport is located within walking distance of Terminal 2, and features 152 rooms with ten suites.
Marriott said that the “boutique hotel concept” brand is "designed to capture the rapidly emerging millennial traveller", and "combines contemporary stylish design, approachable service and, most importantly, an affordable price".
The hotel group said investor interest has been “exceptional” and it has signed eleven Moxy hotels, all due to open throughout Europe by the end of 2016. It has upcoming locations planned for Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin, Oslo, Norway, Aberdeen, Scotland and London.
All rooms will feature "a floor-to-ceiling art wall, free wifi, 42-inch LCD TV, upscale bath amenities and sumptuous bedding", while other facilities include a "lobby-turned-living room featuring communal seating, free wifi, 24/7 market and two meeting rooms with writing walls".
Amy McPherson, president and managing director of Marriott International in Europe, said: “We are delighted to launch the highly anticipated Moxy Milan, our first Moxy hotel that introduces an exciting and affordable hotel design concept to Europe.
“Investor interest has been exceptional and to date we have signed eleven Moxy hotels, all due to open throughout Europe by the end of 2016.”
