Mandarin Oriental, the Hong-Kong based hotel group currently operating 20 properties worldwide with a further 15 in the pipeline, is to open a hotel in Beijing in time for next year”s Olympic Games.
Located in the city”s central business district within the new headquarters of China Central Television (CCTV), the 241-room property Mandarin Oriental, Beijing, will be a key component to the new development and is scheduled to open mid-2008.

Mandarin Oriental describes the interior of the hotel as ”strikingly contemporary,” with 203 guestrooms and 38 suites that are amongst the largest in the city and feature high ceilings, the latest in-room entertainment facilities and spectacular views.
There will be six dining and cocktail venues at the hotel, including the Chinese and signature restaurant on the top two floors, which will be linked by a champagne bar suspended over the connecting staircase.
The property will also cater to the conference and events market, with a circular ballroom that is surrounded by a ring of water.
