Leonardo Hotels has increased its UK portfolio by snapping up Scottish Portland Hotels which owns five hotels in Scotland.
Through the deal, Leonardo has acquired two Edinburgh hotels - Edinburgh City Hotel and Edinburgh Capital - in addition to its existing property, Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh.
The other hotels are Glasgow Pond Hotel plus Huntingtower Hotel in Perth and Speedbird Inn, which is located next to Aberdeen airport.
Leonardo Hotels, which is the European division of Israel-based Fattal Hotels Group, already operates the Leonardo Hotel London Heathrow Airport.
The takeover of Scottish Portland Hotels will increase Leonardo’s UK footprint to seven properties with a total of 1,048 rooms.
Daniel Roger, managing director of Leonardo Hotels Europe, said: “When we entered the market in the UK two years ago, we made it our goal to further expand our portfolio and strengthen the name recognition of the Leonardo Hotels brand.
“The purchase of Portland Hotels underscores this. I am convinced that our guests will love and appreciate this expansion of our offerings in key destinations across Scotland.”
Leonardo Hotels currently offers around 120 hotels in more than 50 destinations across Israel and Europe.
