Langham Hotels International, a small luxury hotel chain that began with the infamous property in London and is now based in Hong Kong, is to open in Beijing in time for next year”s Olympics.
Langham Place Hotel, Beijing is located in the city”s prime business district, Chao Yang District, and forms part of the Chao Yang Plaza ” a 400,000sq m complex currently under construction.
Despite fierce competition from the likes of Shangri-La, Kempinski and Sheraton who also operate hotels in the district, the 26-storey property is to become one of the city”s five-star greats, with more than 440 rooms and suites and 40 serviced apartments.
In keeping with the brand essence, Langham Place Beijing will target the business traveller and provide 5,000sq m (16,400sq ft) of multi-purpose function space for corporate events. The hotel will also feature avant-garde local art displays and provide seamless state-of-the-art technology throughout, with an in-house spa whose treatments are based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy.
”This is the first step for Langham Hotels International in creating a presence in China,” said chairman, Dr. KS Lo, adding: ”We aim to increase our investments in the mainland through building our own hotels, joint venture partnerships and acquiring further management contracts.”
