Intercontinental Hotels Group has opened Intercontinental Bordeaux - Le Grand Hotel.
The 130-room hotel is located in the central Place de la Comédie in a building that dates back to 1776, and is the group's fifth Intercontinental hotel in France.
Facilities include seven meeting rooms, an indoor pool and hammam, ten treatment rooms, a jacuzzi and a 360-degree rooftop beach which emulates the bay at Arcachon.
The Gordon Ramsay Group oversees the food and drink, including the fine dining Le Pressoir d'Argent restaurant.
The hotel will operate under a management agreement with Financière Immobilière Bordelaise.
IHG's four other Intercontinental properties in France are Intercontinental Paris - Le Grand Intercontinental Paris - Avenue Marceau, Intercontinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu and Intercontinental Carlton Cannes.
Last month, IHG announced it was opening two adjoining hotels at Heathrow T4 in 2018.
