InterContinental Hotels and Resorts (IHG) plans to open 30 new hotels in the next three years in the Asia Pacific region, including five in 2008.
This includes five in 2008, four in China - two with access to the Olympics sporting venues ” and one in Australia.
InterContinental Beijing Beichen offers 337 rooms and will be next to the capital city”s new National Convention Centre. The hotel is due to open to guests from late September.
Intercontinental Qingdao is a 438-room waterfront hotel opening in May, next to a complex with a conference centre, international cruise terminal, marina and yachting club.
The 220-room InterContinental Huizhou Resort is scheduled for late 2008, as is the 500-room InterContinental Dalian which will provide easy access to the city”s key business and industrial areas.
InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto will offer 252 rooms in the country”s capital.
Five properties will open in Greater China in 2009, including Intercontinental Shanghai Pudong, Shanghai Puxi ” which will be part of a mixed-use commercial complex offering the largest conference facilities in the area ” and then, in 2010, the InterContinental Guangzhou Poly World Trade Centre and InterContinental Wuxi.
