InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) is to open a new Indigo hotel in New Jersey, the first of the brand in the north-east US. IHG introduced the brand in 2004 as its first boutique brand, aimed at travellers wanting an escape from the traditional hotel experience.
Hotel Indigo at Skyview will be located in Rahway, as part of a major new multiplex and retail centre called Skyview at Carriage City Plaza. The hotel itself will face the Rahway Train Station ” which is being renamed Carriage City Plaza in honour of the project ” 12 minutes from New Jersey”s Newark airport and 30 from central Manhattan via the New Jersey Transit.
Scheduled to open in April 2008, the 102-room hotel features free high-speed internet in all rooms, wireless access in all public areas, and a full-service business centre. Seven meeting rooms will also be available with all the latest amenities, as well as a concierge service, full fitness centre and day spa.
Indigo-branded hotels are all re-decorated periodically with the aim of providing a unique experience with every visit. Public spaces will be transformed seasonally to reflect the time of year, as well as the murals, rugs and bed linen in all guestrooms.
The hotel”s restaurant, Phi, serves seasonal menus, while Starbucks coffee and casual dining is available at the Golden Bean restaurant and caf”. The hotel also features a roof-top garden and lounge with dramatic views of the New York skyline.
