Oxford Hotels & Inns, a UK hotel and leisure chain formed in September last year in response to the collapse of London & Edinburgh Inns, has entered into a ”4m ($8m) investment plan across its portfolio of more than 60 hotels.
The company has also pledged a further ”2.3m in upgrades and refurbishments to commence across the chain later this year. Development will take place at the recently purchased Stonefield Castle on Loch Fyne and other properties in the Scottish portfolio, including the Gleddoch Country House Hotel near Glasgow, the Huntly Arms in Aberdeen and the Carnoustie Golf Hotel (pictured) ” home to this year”s British Open.
”Our expansion plan is a key development in our programme to firmly establish ourselves in the UK,” commented managing director, Mark Edwards. ”We are looking to improve a number of our properties which include refurbishments and expansions within our existing portfolio and, where appropriate, strategic and selective acquisitions.”
In a bid to increase public awareness of the brand, the company has joined forces with the AA”s Hotel Recognition Scheme, and plans to launch its centralised online booking service and online Carnoustie Open Championship Golf Pro Shop later this month.
”Forging links with the AA has been an essential step in our move towards becoming an established UK brand. We are looking forward to receiving the results of their inspections to help us fine tune our offering,” added Edwards.
