Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) is adding five new Holiday Inn and Express hotels in Germany as it continues its expansion in one of the group’s largest markets.
The hotels will be developed in three regions across the country – IHG has 64 hotels in Germany and 33 in the pipeline, including 53 Holiday Inn brand family hotels.
The signings will be in the southwestern area of Baden-Wuerttemberg (Holiday Inn Express Pforzheim, Holiday Inn Mannheim City – Hauptbahnhof and Holiday Inn Express Mannheim), Bavaria (Holiday Inn Express Regensburg), and North Rhine-Westphalia (Holiday Inn Express Oberhausen).
Robert Shepherd, chief development officer Europe, IHG, said: “The German hotel market is accelerating at pace and we are well positioned to take advantage of the appetite for branded growth. 57% of the market is unbranded, so there is a lot of opportunity for IHG to add value with our international brands.
“Several of our signings in the last few months have been with long-standing partners of IHG, who have signed multiple development agreements with the company. It’s a great start as we head into this quarter.”
