Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the signing of a dual branded hotel development in Munich.
The two hotels, 118-room Holiday Inn Munich City East and 189-room Holiday Inn Express Munich City East, will operate under a franchise agreement with Primestar Hotel Group.
The hotels, due to open in early 2018, are located within walking distance from Berg am Laim S bahn train station and close to the city centre and Munich International airport.
IHG said with both hotels in the same building the dual branded model allows for "operational efficiencies through shared team members and facilities" such as meeting space, leisure and fitness facilities.
IHG associate VP of development for Germany, Martin Bowen, said: “Dual branded properties are relatively new in Germany and we are leading the field in this area.
“They’re attractive for hotel investors because of the significant cost savings and operating efficiencies; and they give guests a choice of two great hotels in the one location depending on their needs. This is an exciting time for IHG in Germany as we continue to grow a pipeline of quality hotels here with our portfolio of preferred brands.”
IHG said it plans to double the number of hotels in Germany, open or in development, over the next five years.
