Intercontinental Hotels Group plans to double its number of properties in China in the next three to five years.
The firm has also pledged to recruit another 110,000 staff to support this growth in China
The news was announced as IHG chief executive Richard Solomons (pictured) joined Prime Minister David Cameron on a trade mission to the region to boost trade ties between Britain and China.
Cameron said: "IHG's plans to double the number of their hotels across China over the next five years is a great example of how British businesses can benefit from China's growing middle class."
IHG currently has 200 hotels operating in China, with another 179 properties in the pipeline, and nearly 60,000 employees in the region.
Solomons said: "China is IHG's second largest market after the US and is likely to surpass the US to become our largest by number of rooms by 2025.
"Having been in China for 30 years, IHG has a deep understanding of the market and of consumers' needs, and we are confident in its future development prospects. We are committed to continuing to grow in China."
IHG announced last week that it is to open its first Staybridge Suites hotel in Saudi Arabia.
