Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened its second upscale Voco-branded property in the UK following refurbishment work to a building in Solihull.
The 180-room Voco St John’s, Solihull follows the Voco St David’s in Cardiff. The hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment to its guest rooms and lobby, as well as the restaurant and bar.
It features more than 1,230 sqm of meeting space across 13 different rooms that can cater for corporate events of up to 700 guests. The hotel also offers leisure facilities, including a fully equipped health club with an indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym.
Since the upscale Voco brand launched in June 2018, IHG has signed a number of hotels around the world, including Bangkok, Cairo and Dubai, as well as Melbourne, Hunter Valley and Yarra Valley in Australia and the two UK properties.
Jane Bowler, general manager at the Voco St John’s, Solihull, said: “This is an incredibly exciting time. Voco will be a fantastic addition to Solihull and we are proud to be the first Voco property in the Midlands. We want Voco St Josn’s, Solihull to be an inviting place for both hotel guests and our local community, and we look forward to them experiencing the new brand. Our team are extremely passionate about what we offer and we invite you to experience the world of Voco for yourself.”
Karan Khanna, MD for the UK and Ireland at IHG, added: “We are excited to open our second Voco property in the UK following the successful launch of Voco St David’s in Cardiff. With a focus on conversion opportunities, the Voco brand allows us to retain the existing charm of an independent hotel whilst also bringing the reassurances of a trusted brand, along with the power and strength of IHG’s systems.”
