Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) is reportedly looking to bid for rival hotel chains Movenpick and Fairmont.
The group, which last week denied it was in talks to acquire Starwood Hotels, is weighing up the bids as other hotel chains look to agree deals.
Senior City sources reported by the Sunday Times said IHG and Starwood, which runs the Sheraton and Westin brands, discussed a deal earlier this year but “talks never got off the ground” because of regulatory hurdles.
IHG is now said to be eyeing Luxury Canadian group Fairmont and Swiss-based firm Movenpick.
Insiders told The Sunday Times that IHG had “not yet decided” whether to make an approach for either business.
Last month, IHG agreed the sale of Intercontinental Hong Kong hotel for $938 million.
