Hyatt Hotels & Resorts plans to open five properties in Russia within the next three years, doubling the company”s portfolio in the Russia/CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) region to ten. Hyatt sees great potential for growth in the area as an emerging market economy attracting an ever-increasing amount of business.
Only two of the new developments are in Russia ” Park Hyatt Moscow and Hyatt Regency Yekaterinburg ” with the remaining three to be built in Tbilisi (Georgia, pictured above), Kiev (Ukraine) and Dushanbe (Tajikistan).
First for completion will be Hyatt Regency Kiev, scheduled to open in the second quarter this year. Overlooking Saint Sophia Square, the property will house 234 rooms with high-tech communications systems throughout. The Hyatt Regency Dushanbe will also open later in the year, on the grounds of City Park, adjacent to Lake Komsomol in the Tajikistan capital.
Grand Hyatt Moscow, slated for a 2008 opening, is situated in the new downtown area that is to become home to the city government. The hotel will comprise the 46th-83rd floors of second tower at the new Federation Towers, with 65 rooms and 41 suites dedicated to the business traveller.
Hyatt Regency Yekaterinburg is also set for completion in 2008, located on the banks of the River Iset. The hotel will offer Regency Club accommodation, giving business guests access to a boardroom and club lounge.
Tbilisi will be the last property to open, due for completion in early 2009. The hotel will form part of a five-building complex that is currently under construction, which will incorporate offices, a conference centre, spa and fitness centre and Georgian restaurant.
