Hilton Garden Inn says it is seeing strong growth in Africa, with four hotels now in operation and 14 in the pipeline three years after marking the brand’s debut on the continent.
The chain says many of the properties represent first-in-country openings for the brand and for the Hilton group as a whole, including Botswana, Zambia and Uganda.

This prototype has been curated to meet the expectations of both travellers and owners throughout Africa, while maintaining the brand’s signature light, bright and airy design as well as the consistent, core guest offerings and amenities that the brand is recognised for around the world.”
To date, the brand has four properties with nearly 800 guest rooms, including Tanger City Centre in Morocco, Nairobi airport in Kenya, Lusaka Society Business Park in Zambia and Gaborone in Botswana (pictured), which is located in the city’s new central business district.
In the pipeline to open this month are properties in Uganda and Eswatini, with a hotel due to open later this year in Windhoek, Namibia. Other countries in the pipeline include Malawi, Uganda, Ghana, Egypt, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Nigeria and South Africa.
Hilton as a whole expects to grow its footprint across Africa from 44 hotels to day to nearly 100 over the next several years following a US$50 million investment. The group is celebrating its 100th anniversary this month.
