MALDIVES holidaymakers will have an even bigger choice of hotels from December this year.
Shangri-La has confirmed that its new Maldives Resort & Spa, Villingili Island, is on schedule to open on the Addu Atoll prior to Christmas.
Neighbouring Gan Airport, a former Royal Air Force staging post to Singapore, is scheduled to be upgraded to international status at the same time, enabling direct international flights by the end of the year. Shangri-La Maldives Resort & Spa, Villingili Island, is a five-minute boat ride away from the airport. The 250-roomed five star resort is divided into four distinct accommodation concepts, all connected to a central Piazza offering a range of spa and leisure activities and an array of dining and entertainment facilities. Gan Island will also offer a soon to be completed golf course, which will be the only one in the Maldives.
