Rocco Forte Hotels is to name its Munich development, The Charles Hotel, in honour of Sir Rocco Forte”s father, renowned hotelier Lord Charles Forte.
The Charles Hotel is Rocco Forte”s third German property, joining Hotel de Rome in Berlin (which opened in October 2006) and Villa Kennedy in Frankfurt (March 2006). When completed, in the summer, The Charles Hotel will be the 12th Rocco Forte hotel.
Located in the heart of the city of Munich, in the area known as Lenbach G”rten, the hotel is within walking distance of the commercial district, popular shopping areas and entertainment facilities. It is also well located for transport links, close to the city”s main train station, The Hauptbahnhof. Franz Josef Strauss airport is 28 km (17 miles) northeast of Munich.
The new build eight-storey hotel overlooks the Old Botanical Gardens, cost nearly ”50m ($98.4m) and will have 132 rooms each measuring 40 sq m (131 sq ft), with nine Junior Suites (40 sq m), 18 Master Suites (70 sq m / 230 sq ft) and a Presidential Suite (100 sq m / 328 sq ft). The hotel also comprises an Italian restaurant with a private dining room, a bar, seven conference rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology and benefiting from natural light, a ballroom accommodating up to 400 guests for a drinks reception and a spa with sauna, swimming pool, five treatment rooms offering a range of wellness and beauty treatments and a gym with all the latest cardiovascular machinery.
