Travelodge has appointed former IHG executive Peter Gowers as the hotel company’s new CEO.
Gowers, who is currently CEO of self-storage firm Safestore, will replace Grant Hearn at Travelodge from next week (November 25).
“Travelodge is an iconic hotel brand and I am hugely excited by the opportunity to lead such a great business,” said Gowers.
“I am delighted to be returning to the hotel industry and I look forward to working with the excellent team already in place to build on our current momentum and further grow the Travelodge brand.”
Gowers previously worked as IHG’s chief executive for Asia Pacific and also held the role of chief marketing officers for the company.
Travelodge chairman Brian Wallace said: “Peter is a highly regarded senior executive, with extensive industry and market experience and expertise.
“His skills and knowledge will be a great asset in helping to further grow our business and to make Travelodge the best value hotel chain in the UK.”
Hearn joined Travelodge in 2003 during which time the company doubled its portfolio of hotels.
Although Travelodge had to undergo major restructuring last year, which included transferring 18 hotels in the UK to other operators.
