Amba Hotels has opened its first property in London, claiming it offers the “fastest wifi of any meetings and events hotel group”.
The 239-room four-star property, formerly The Charing Cross hotel before undergoing refurbishment, is located at Charing Cross railway station, close to Trafalgar Square.
Amba is owned by hotel firm GLH, previously known as Guoman and owner of Thistle Hotels. The group will rebrand four existing hotels in London under the name Amba, which will be billed as a “contemporary four-star” chain.
The hotel will offer a smart TV in each room, iPad, USB sockets and a Nespresso coffee machine. Amba said the property has the fastest wifi in any hotel in the world for meetings and events because it offers no limits on uploads and download speeds.
The group will open its second hotel next year, which will be a rebranding of the Thistle Marble Arch, with the Grosvenor in Victoria and Tower Bridge hotels being rebranded in 2016. The brand is also looking out for opportunities for expansion in Asia, the USA and across Europe.
