ROCCO FORTE is proving to be just as energetic as his famous father in the pursuit of hotel development, although his area of interest is much more upmarket than the old Forte group. Last week Sir Rocco announced his latest project will be in Munich, at Lenbach G”rten, on the edge of the Botanical Gardens, close to both the commercial and shopping districts. Due to open in 2007 the eight-storey hotel will have 160 rooms, including 28 suites, as well as a restaurant with two private dining rooms, a bar, a health centre with gym, swimming pool, sauna and treatment rooms, and eight meeting rooms, including a ballroom that will accommodate almost 400 people for a cocktail reception. This announcement follows the acquisition of Le Richemond in Geneva (see ABTN 19 July) and brings the total number of operational and confirmed hotels to 15, marking Rocco Forte Hotels as one of Europe”s fastest growing luxury hotel companies.
