LONDON”S largest hotel, the currently tourist class Cumberland at Marble Arch, is to close on 20 October 2003 in order to complete the final phase of re-development work. The property will re-open for business in Summer 2004. When the ”90m transformation is completed the hotel will be re-launched as a contemporary four-star deluxe hotel with 1,020 re-designed guestrooms; a futuristic lobby; three bars, a brasserie, espresso bar and fine dining restaurant, together with a conference centre offering a conference suite, 28 meeting rooms and a separate meeting and banqueting operation for 1,200 delegates. The hotel is presently operated by Le Meridien.
