Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter has been named the most female friendly hotel in the UK.
It picked up the winner of the SOLO Awards - launched earlier this year by travel management company Redfern.
More than 100 hotels were nominated with eight shortlisted. These properties were secretly visited by judges to decide the winner.
The Newcastle hotel was chosen on its commitment for safety, with 24/7 concierge through CCTV as well friendly and approachable staff.
Kate Wimpeney, chief operating officer, Redfern, said: “It’s no longer acceptable to just offer a comfortable stay. Following the nominations, it is clearly apparent that the hotels women really value offer a combination of the highest standards in both comfort and safety.
“The Crowne Plaza was ultimately selected as our winner as the staff and facilities went above and beyond to meet the needs and safety of women business travellers. Congratulations to all involved.”
Ellen Deboeck, general manager, Crowne Plaza Newcastle – Stephenson Quarter, said: “We are delighted to be recognised by Redfern as the most female friendly hotel in the UK. While our hotel is memorable for its striking design and fantastic facilities, we are proud that it is our level of service and friendliness that makes us standout.”
Other shortlisted hotels included; Hilton Leeds, Mercure Manchester, Novotel Birmingham City Centre, Park Regis Birmingham, Travelodge Hull city centre, North Lakes Hotel Penrith and Doubletree by Hilton Tower Hill.
Redfern was acquired by international CTM Group in December 2016.
