In a recent survey undertaken by MKG Hospitality Paris, Best Western was named as the strongest hotel brand worldwide based on the number of properties and rooms.
Best Western came first in the ranking list with 4,035 hotels and 308,636 rooms. Holiday Inn (IHG) was second with 1,382 hotels and 256,775 rooms. Comfort Inns & Comfort Suites of Choice Hotels International ranks third with 2,467 hotels and 188,596 rooms. Marriott Hotels and Resorts and Hilton Hotels and Resorts round out the top five, with 520 hotels and 188,544 rooms.
Although the group recorded a net loss of properties in 2007, the year was still a successful one for Best Western as 300 new hotels joined the brand including more than 80 in Europe, of which a total of 17 were in the UK.
”The one thing that sets Best Western apart is that although the group has the largest number of hotels, every one of them is individually owned and managed meaning that we are able to offer great personal customer service,” said, Best Western CEO David Clarke.
”It”s a great winning combination of a big brand providing confidence at booking and the assurance of receiving the personal service of an independently owned hotel.”
