Airbnb has introduced a new tool that allows buyers to book rooms for their travellers as well as controlling payment and itinerary details.
Before today’s announcement Airbnb would only allow the person who booked the room to view the trip details and buyers wouldn’t be able to book travel for multiple employees.
Last year the shared economy accommodation site announced it had signed up more than 250 companies to its business travel specific site as well signing a deal with Concur to help travellers manage expenses on the road.
This new tool will allow the site to build on its growing business travel sector, which already accounts for than 10 per cent of its overall business.
“More and more business travellers are choosing to stay with Airbnb while they are on the road, so they get the chance to not just visit , but live in a city, even if it’s for one night,” said Lex Bayer, head of global payments and business development at Airbnb.
“Our hosts offer more than just generic hospitality, they help travellers live in the heart of local neighbourhoods. We are excited that this product update will introduce a whole new segment of business travellers to this experience.”
Airbnb added: “This new tool adds a whole new dimension to the way companies are able to book listings for all their business travel needs.”
