Accorhotels is to create a new joint venture with Rixos Hotels to target the upper end of the hotel market.
The French hotel giant said that the JV was intended to “collaborate, develop and manage Rixos-branded resorts and hotels worldwide”.
Accor, which will hold a 50% stake in the JV, will integrate 15 of Rixos’ hotels into its network. These properties are located in major resorts in Turkey, Egypt, Russia and the United Arab Emirates.
Under the deal, Dubai-based Rixos will reflag five of its city centre properties to Accor brands, which will also manage these hotels.
Forthcoming Rixos properties in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the Maldives will also form part of this agreement.
Sebastien Bazin, CEO of Accorhotels, said: “This new partnership has many benefits for us. It enables us to become a leading resort operator in a growing market and to complement our offer with attractive leisure destinations to our guests and loyalty members.”
