French hotel firm Accor is planning to open new hotels in Scotland under its Mercure and Ibis brands
The company will unveil a Mercure property in Edinburgh and its first Ibis Styles in Glasgow, with both properties operating under franchise agreements.
The 110-room Mercure hotel will be located at 38 Gardner's Crescent in central Edinburgh and is scheduled to open in the spring.
Rooms will include an Apple television and high-speed wifi will be available throughout the four-star property.
Accor's Glasgow Ibis Style property will feature 101 rooms and will be located on Miller Street in the redevelopment of the existing Telfer House. The hotel is due to open next autumn.
The company has already announced plans to open an Adagio “aparthotel” in Edinburgh’s New Waverley development from 2017 which will feature 146 apartments.
Thomas Dubaere (pictured), managing director of Accor UK & Ireland, said: “Scotland is an important region for us, with its enviable tourism industry and flourishing business ecosystem, so we continue to seek new opportunities to grow and participate in the local economy.
“These new hotels will help us to expand the Accor brands in Scotland, where our business is already enjoying great success.”
