WIRELESS HOT SPOTS: Multimap, the mapping company, and totalhotspots.com, who provide a directory of wi-fi hotspots, have joined forces to help people find their way to their nearest, and most suitable, Wi-Fi hotspot. Multimap”s ”Where”s-my-nearest” service has been deployed so that visitors from any corner of the globe can search for their nearest hotspot, in their local language, and view useful location information. The Wi-Fi Finder service has also been added to the suite of location information services available to Multimap.com”s 7.3m unique user base. All you have to do is enter a postcode and a list appears beneath this map, with the venue name, distance from location entered in miles, an icon indicating the location type (e.g., caf”, hotel, restaurant, pay phone), contact details, Wi-Fi operator, and charges. Users click on the item that best fits their needs to access a more detailed map of their chosen venue”s location, and further contact details.
