VISIT BRITAIN is the name of the new lead body for tourism in Britain created from the merger of the BTA (British Tourist Authority) and ETC (English Tourism Council), and will officially begin its role tomorrow, 1 April. It is charged with marketing England within Britain and Britain to the rest of the world. Latest figures show that in 2002 there were 24.2m overseas visitors (6% increase compared to 2001) to the UK who spent ”11.8bn, a rise of +4% compared to 2001.
