Hotel prices in the UK are likely to fall, experts told delegates at the Travel & Expense Management Forum.
Grant Appleton (left), sales director for HRS, said that hotel prices were likely to go down, and corporates were making changes to their travel patterns. For example, they were staying at hotels on Monday nights when rates were lower than mid-week."We are re-negotiating rates every few months because the market is changing so quickly" Appleton added.
Jerry Murck, BCD Travel's senior vice president hotel reservations, said: "There will be some price pressure, but it won't be the free-for-all we saw a few years back."
Michelle Alvin, travel manager for Dresdner Kleinwort, said many banks were tightening their travel policies: "We are tightening ours and if people go outside it, they will not be reimbursed," she told delegates.
