CHANGI AIRPORT was the venue last Saturday for the launch in Singapore of ”The Terminal”, Hollywood”s latest, starring Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta Jones. The movie was inspired by the true story of Merhan Karimi Nasseri, an Iranian exile who has been living in Charles de Gaulle airport for the past 16 years. The film version tells the story of Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks), a visitor to New York City from Eastern Europe, whose homeland erupts in a fiery coup while he is in the air en route to America. When he arrives at John F. Kennedy International Airport with a passport from nowhere, he finds himself stranded. Changi Airport seems to be the only airport in the world that has used real initiative on showing the film. The transit area Sky Lounge in Terminal 1 seemed an ideal venue for over 200 guests. There was also a screening on Sunday for transit passengers but as far as we know nobody missed their flight.
