Travel conglomerate, TUI group and global technology provider, Worldspan, have entered into a partnership to distribute one another”s hotel content. At this week”s ITB exhibition in Berlin, the two companies released plans to share their hotel booking platforms to give agents and end consumers a wider choice of accommodation.
All 26,500 properties that make up the TUI hotel content will now become available through the Worldspan global distribution system (GDS). In return, TUI will have access to more than 70,000 hotels that are currently available on the Worldspan GDS, which will be distributed by TUI”s web-based Hotel Manager product.
As TUI”s booking system is internet-based, it allows hoteliers to build on their property information and update their fares and inventory direct. By integrating the Worldspan database, it too can be updated and added to by hoteliers.
”TUI is focussed on innovative use of web-based technologies with the goal of making our hotel and resort offerings more easily accessible to the end consumer,” said TUI head of web platforms Andreas Nau.
”Our Worldspan partnership will enable TUI to market hotels through one of the travel industry”s most advanced distribution channels, achieve real-time connectivity with travel agents, and lend electronic marketing opportunities to more hoteliers through Worldspan”s use of TUI Hotel Manager.”
