NEW YORK visitors will again be able to climb up the inside of the Statue of Liberty when the historic 1886 gift from the people of France re-opens in July. Visitors will be able to explore the Statue of Liberty museum, and enjoy the 360 degree views from the observation deck on top of the 16-storey pedestal after a multi-million dollar renovation is completed. In addition, a new reservation ticketing system will help eliminate the previous long queues (lines), thus further enhancing the experience. Prior to September 11, 2001 the Statue hosted an average of 4m visits per year. Access is from the ferry departure point at Battery Park just below Wall Street and Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey. The USD10 ticket includes access to the equally fascinating Ellis Island.
