PASSENGER INSURANCE recommendations to government were made public last week by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in the middle of Farnborough resulting in much of the media being in Hampshire when the briefing at CAA House took place. The main point of the advice was that ”yes” travellers should be protected when booking on scheduled flights, as they are if taking a package holiday, and that a charge should be levied adding two pounds to the cost. easyJet straight away came out against the scheme calling it a ”lunatic new passenger levy” whilst British Airways more considered approach asked for the CAA to justify the scheme.
