OAG, in conjunction with British Airways, has introduced an experimental information service for an initial three month trial period. Called ”flight tracker” it can be used from any mobile phone to receive flight status updates including arrivals, departures and disruptions via their (UK registered) mobile phone. Just text 80-747 on your phone with the message ”track baxxx” (xxx being the flight number) and the tracking will begin, normally four hours before the scheduled flight time. You can add a date too. ”track baxxx 2510”. The system is claimed to work anywhere in the world, the cost being whatever your service provider charges for text, normally a very small sum.
