Japan Airlines (JAL) will extend its new domestic first class service to the Tokyo-Sapporo route from 1 June, with seat reservations available from 1 April.
Offered on two rotations per day, there will be dedicated first class check-in counters provided at Sapporo Chitose, and passengers will benefit from priority boarding and baggage claim, as well as have access to the Sakura Lounge.
Seats are 133cm (52”) wide and reclined at 132 degrees on Boeing 777-200 aircraft, configured in a 2x2x2 format, with a centre partition between each pair for extra privacy.
It will cost passengers Y8,000 (”40) to upgrade from economy or Y1,000 from business (Class J) for each sector of their journey - subject to availability - and international travellers in JAL First Class will be switched to the new domestic equivalent at no additional cost on applicable routes.
Other routes with domestic first class are Tokyo to Osaka and Fukuoka.
” A redesigned version of JAL”s printed international timetable will be available from April, following feedback from customers.
It will now be pocket size (17cm x 7.5cm), be completely bilingual, include round-trip information for every destination, contain seating maps for its eight main aircraft configurations and use colour-coding to make reference easier.
Made from 100% recycled paper, it will also offer information on JAL”s international flights and ground services.
The last timetable was designed 25 years ago, in 1983.
