Security staff at airports are well-used to removing forbidden goods off passengers ” some who are trying to sneak through the system, and others who are genuinely unaware of what is and what is not allowed.
Rule-breaking reached an all-time high at Stansted airport recently, when a woman was found trying to smuggle two chameleons on board!
Stansted”s head of terminal, Nick Cole, explained these reptile-refugees were not the first creatures found by staff: ”It is very unusual for us to be presented with two live chameleons at security, but in the past we have had passengers trying to take cats and dogs through, and on one occasion even a tarantula!”
Chameleon camouflaging skills obviously didn”t pay off this time.
