It is rumoured that one of the UK's leading medical insurance companies is to sponsor a novel security programme at an undisclosed London airport.
Instead of passengers being requested to empty their pockets of metal objects, take off their jackets and remove their shoes, they will asked to lie down on a conveyor belt that takes them through an x-ray machine.
"I can assure you that this method is quicker than the conventional techniques," said Stan Le Look, manager passenger protection, at the airport. "Mind you it took the genius of our CEO to gain sponsorship by the wellbeing people. Travellers can have their x-rays checked and if they pass they get a special discount on their health cover."
Remember you heard it first in ABTN.
PS. The Los Angeles Times reported that over the holidays a woman mistakenly put her one month old grandson on an x-ray machine at LAX. A startled security worker noticed the bundle and immediately pulled him out. Quickly taken to the local hospital he was given the all clear.
Maybe there is some truth in the London rumour!
