HMS BELFAST, the visitor attraction moored opposite the Tower of London, welcomed the six star award winning cruise liner Silver Wind whch tied up against the World War II cruiser last week. Both ships are about 15,000 tons but were built 50 years apart (see photo on the ABTN web site). With the Port of London Authority keen to attract more cruise ships Silversea used the chance to launch its 2004 programme, which includes what it terms ”personalised voyages”, the opportunity to pay on a day rate and join and leave the ships at the ports of your choice. Off course you have to book well ahead but the idea seems ideal for Silversea”s discerning passengers, now able to turn the cruise into a truly flexible package. http://www.silversea.com
