The Dominican Republic has confirmed that the terrible disaster that has overtaken the Jimani Province is approximately 300 miles from Santo Domingo on the border with Haiti. Whilst aid is urgently needed in the devastated areas the airport in Santo Domingo is operating normally, all highways are open and the situation in the capital and known tourism regions is normal with business and leisure visitors very welcome.
