AwayPhone, the international mobile phone operator that cuts the cost of roaming charges by up to 90% with the use of Voice over IP (VoIP), has enhanced its service in Hong Kong.
Through a partnership deal with Hong Kong-based Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) Trident Telecom, all AwayPhone customers making or receiving international calls will be diverted through the local network system, thus cutting the roaming charges associated with other mobile operators.
Hong Kong is an important location for AwayPhone due to its booming popularity as an international business destination. ”Business people travelling to Asia tell us that call costs are far too high and ease of use is a real problem,” explained AwayPhone CEO, Sherry Madeira. ”In Hong Kong we can save travellers almost 90% on today”s call costs.”
Having launched AwayPhone at the beginning of this year (click here to read the story), the company continues its drive to partner with local MVNOs around the world and build up its status as an international MVNO.
”Working with AwayPhone helps us gain greater access to the vast international inbound travel market to Hong Kong,” said Trident Telecom CEO, Francis Wong. ”Our sophisticated network is well equipped to support AwayPhone as it examines ways to introduce new features and reduce call costs for its subscribers.”
