Amadeus's new UK manager Stephane Durand said the GDS now had a 22% market share of UK agents compared with 7% three years ago.
Speaking at a London press briefing, Mr Durand said: “There has never been a better time for Amadeus in the UK working with our customers.”
He said the company was investing £100m a year in development and this was now beginning to pay off.
New developments included the Vista for Business product which he said would be officially unveiled at the Business Travel Show in London in February.
“This shows that we are not just a GDS. Vista is a fully integrated and fully consolidated sales platform for our customers,” he said.
Mr Durand predicted that Vista would help increase the number of hotel bookings agents make. “I believe that they will sell many, many more, at least double or triple the number of bookings that hotels take through agents.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our customers. Many have not been comfortable with the complicated booking but this will be improved with the next version of Vista.”
Mr Durand said Amadeus also planned to improve its partnership with the UK Build of Business Travel Agents in 2005. “They are helping us develop solutions specifically for their members,” he said.
