European taxi app Mytaxi increased UK revenues by 80 per cent last year as it reached the milestone of more than four million rides.
Mytaxi, which merged with UK black cab app Hailo in 2016, also revealed that its revenue across Europe rose by 75 per cent during 2018 compared with the previous year as the number of rides surpassed 40 million across the continent.
The Daimler Group-owned taxi app added that it had increased its number of UK licensed taxi drivers by 25 per cent year-on-year, while there was a 111 per cent rise in UK passengers using Mytaxi in 2018.
Andy Batty, Mytaxi’s chief operating officer, said: “We have seen increasing growth across all markets and locations, with the UK being a key contributor to our success.
“Mytaxi airport requests across Europe grew by a huge 80 per cent in 2018, and in the UK these grew by 180 per cent. Heathrow and London City airports were the most popular in 2018 .
“Cross border traffic through the app also grew by nearly 200 per cent across Europe. UK users were most likely to use the app when travelling around Ireland, Germany and Italy."
