A new strategic partnership between travel agency network GlobalStar Travel Management and travel technology specialist Snowstorm Technologies is kicking off with the launch of a new online booking and travel management platform, along with a hybrid hotel programme.
Dubbed OneWurld Desktop and available now, the OBT and management offering is designed for use by small and midsize corporate travel users, the companies said. Such users, historically left behind by OBTs designed for large corporate and enterprise users, have become an attractive target market, with providers including TripActions and TravelPerk focusing largely on serving the SME segment.
Meanwhile, the companies' new Above & Beyond hybrid hotel programme enables travel buyers to leverage GlobalStar's negotiated rates at more than 35,000 hotels worldwide, through both traditional channels such as GDS and bed banks, as well as direct connections via API powered by Snowstorm's technology.
Earlier this month, GlobalStar named former American Express Global Business Travel and HRG executive James Stevenson as its CEO, with effect from 1 April, succeeding current president and CEO Steve Hartwell.
