Big Data and its possible implications for travel buyers was the major theme of the Management Solutions (UK) forum in London on Tuesday.
ACTE’s executive director Greeley Koch gave his opinion on whether Big Data would be a “friend or foe?” for the industry and came to the conclusion that it would ultimately depend on how buyers choose to make use of the wave of data becoming available.
Panellists from Airplus, HRS, Astra Zeneca and data specialist PI Benchmark also gave their views on how Big Data could be harnessed and used for better and more “intelligent” sourcing.
But so far there seems to be a lack of awareness about exactly what Big Data is and what it could mean for travel management professionals in the coming year.
