CWT has partnered with Timeshifter to help business
travellers avoid the effects of jet lag through the use of an app.
Timeshifter gives travellers the ability to create personalised
“jet lag avoidance plans” based on sleep pattern, chronotype (the propensity for
a person to sleep at a particular time during a 24-hour period), itinerary and
personal preferences, such as pre-travel adjustment or the use of melatonin to
aid adaptation to a new time zone.
According to the app, its solution is based on sleep and
circadian neuroscience, developed by Dr Steven Lockley, an associate professor
at Harvard Medical School. Dr Lockley has spent more than a decade applying
circadian science for NASA astronauts to alleviate jet lag and improve sleep
and alertness while training overseas, as well as helping them shift their
sleeping patterns prior to shuttle launches.
Patrice Simon, CWT’s vice president of new product
development, commented: “As a frequent business traveller, I know the jet lag
routine all too well. I tend to be tired, awake and hungry at the wrong time,
and it can be difficult to recover from a trip. We are thrilled to offer an innovative
solution that empowers travelling employees with personalised jet lag plans to
increase their productivity during business meetings abroad.”
