Virgin Atlantic has appointed Erik Varwijk as executive VP of commercial.
He will start the role on June 15 and will be responsible for leading all commercial teams across the business including sales and customer engagement, marketing and customer experience, network and alliances and revenue management.
Varwijk joins Virgin Atlantic from Air France KLM Group where he worked for more than 25 years leading and directing a variety of teams across revenue, network and alliances, international markets and marketing.
He was a member of the KLM managing board and group executive committee for the airline and some of the key positions he held included executive VP of Commercial.
Virgin Atlantic Craig Kreeger said: “We are delighted to have Erik join our leadership team. It’s an exciting time at Virgin Atlantic, with the introduction of our new 787 aircraft, the recent opening of our LA Clubhouse, the new route to Detroit and our overall investment in our customer’s experience.
“Erik has extensive commercial experience in the airline industry and I am certain he will help us deliver against our plans for long term success.”
